Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin said that Yevgeny Prigozhin’s attempt to organize an armed rebellion is the most terrible crime that cannot be justified by any merits in the past.
Naryshkin’s words are reported by TASS. He stressed that it is now obvious that the attempt of the founder of PMC “Wagner” “to rock society, kindle the fire of a fratricidal civil war” has failed.
On the morning of June 24, detachments of PMC “Wagner” and their military equipment entered Rostov-on-Don. Russian President Vladimir Putin, in an address to the Russians, announced a rebellion and an attempt to split society. The President added that “everyone who deliberately embarked on the path of betrayal will suffer inevitable punishment.”
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that the messages and videos distributed on social networks on behalf of the founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, are not true and are an informational provocation.
The NAC said that after Prigozhin’s statements, a case was opened on calling for a military mutiny.
