You need to quit smoking abruptly, giving up cigarettes completely in one day, said Vitaly Kholdin, chief freelance specialist, psychiatrist-narcologist of the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region, in an interview with Moslenta.
He noted that with this option, the body will practically not receive any harm. According to him, the idea that quitting smoking should be done step by step, by reducing the number of cigarettes consumed, is a myth, and this method is ineffective.
Holdin also said that claims that vaping is less harmful to health than conventional cigarettes are misleading. According to him, electronic cigarettes are not only no less dangerous and form an addiction, but can also provoke the occurrence of serious ailments, including oncology.
According to the doctor, people think they can quit this addiction right away, but on average it takes about five attempts.
