Russia, after the introduction of Western sanctions against it, managed to keep almost the entire fleet of civilian aircraft. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Igor Chalik during the Eastern Economic Forum.

The representative of the department noted that to date, 1218 out of 1288 aircraft are registered in the Russian register.

“We have retained almost the entire fleet of aircraft,” he stressed.

Earlier it became known that Russian airlines asked the Ministry of Transport to allow them the procedure for the so-called cannibalization of aircraft – the dismantling of some airliners for spare parts to maintain others in working condition.

Currently, the legislation does not allow carriers to remove serviceable parts from some aircraft for their subsequent installation on others.
