Refusal of a number of products prolongs youth, said Natalya Silina, a dietitian at the National Medical Research Center (NMIC) of Endocrinology of the Russian Ministry of Health, and an employee of the center for the treatment and prevention of metabolic disorders and obesity, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The doctor noted that this primarily applies to food that contains too much saturated fat and added sugars. These include chocolate milk, flavored sweetened cottage cheese and yogurt, sausage, mayonnaise and commercial ice cream.
According to her, it is better not to eat sugar at all, or to reduce consumption to a maximum of 4 teaspoons per day. Salt should be consumed no more than 5 grams per day.
Silina pointed out that in addition to preserving youth, such restrictions will help in the interests of preventing cancer, cardiovascular disease, and dementia. She also noted that in addition to nutrition, exercise and limiting stress loads are extremely important.
