Turtle swept from Novokuznetsk to Kislovodsk
During 2022, 46,000 pets made unaccompanied trips on Russian railways. The same indicator of 2021 was surpassed by more than 20%.
As it became known to MK, most often dogs and cats traveled by rail, they accounted for more than 80% of the total traffic. There were many other representatives of the animal world.
For example, decorative rats were transported on trains Chelyabinsk – St. Petersburg and Moscow-Irkutsk, and fish in aquariums traveled from Moscow to Novy Urengoy and from Tyumen to Penza. In addition, the train Novokuznetsk – Kislovodsk used a turtle, Krasnoyarsk – Krasnodar – a raccoon, St. Petersburg – Nizhny Novgorod – a Degu squirrel.
On the train from Tyumen to Omsk, a couple of owls swept, and two geese from Yekaterinburg to Purpe.
And on the eve of the New Year, its symbols, rabbits, became frequent passengers. The geography of trips of furry animals is impressive: from Moscow to Surgut, Kamensk-Uralsky, Petrozavodsk, from St. Petersburg to Perm, Kursk and Sochi, they were also seen on the trains Tyumen – Nizhnevartovsk, Volgograd – Ufa and some others.
The Federal Passenger Company calculated that, on average, about 800 pets per week traveled by rail last year, the situation changed only in December, when about 1,000 pets traveled weekly. Thus, in the last month of the year, more than 4.3 thousand pets made trips.
Most often, pets were sent on a trip from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Volgograd, Ufa, Chelyabinsk, Yekaterinburg, Adler and Samara.
During the journey, animals are placed in sealed cages or carriers, they have access to food, water and a tray.
