The EpiVacCorona vaccine, or rather, its ineffectiveness, apparently became the reason for the dismissal of the Director General of the Vector Center, Rinat Maksyutov.
Information about the dismissal of Maksyutov appeared on May 17 in the morning, but Rospotrebnadzor and the Vector center did not officially comment on this fact.
The official order, signed by the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova, cited by some media, says that the decision to dismiss Maksyutov was made due to “failure to take measures to resolve the conflict of interest”, as well as violation of the law “On Combating Corruption”, which led to the “loss trust.” According to the same document, the fixed-term employment contract with Maksyutov Rinat Amirovich will be terminated from May 18, 2023.
Rinat Maksyutov has been working at Vector since 2003 – he headed the laboratory, was the deputy director for scientific work. He took the director’s chair 7 years ago, when he was only 34 years old. Amir Maksyutov, also a virologist, did not enjoy special authority, at least, such as his father, but, they say, he was very active.
According to several sources, the reason for his dismissal was the failure of the EpiVacCoron vaccine, which turned out to be, if not completely “zero”, then very ineffective. Thus, according to the results of an independent study in St. Petersburg, which was once voiced by a member of the city parliament, the percentage of cases of coronavirus after vaccination was the highest after EpiVacCorona – 6.07% (with 1.64% for Sputnik V and 0.89 at KoviVak).
The development of a vaccine against COVID-19 began at the Vector Center in January 2020. This is a one-component peptide vaccine that Rospotrebnadzor tried to “pull out” with all its might, but, alas, its effectiveness against coronavirus has not been convincingly proven. Many scientists, right at the height of the epidemic, advocated suspending its use pending independent verification.
Meanwhile, several billions of budget money were spent on the creation of EpiVacCorona. All these facts, apparently, have become, if not the main, then one of the weighty reasons for the loss of confidence.
