My attitude to the concept of “women’s happiness” has changed a lot.

The rehearsals of the play “Women’s Happiness” with Valeria Lanskaya in the title role, which is scheduled to premiere on February 3, are in full swing at the Moscow Theater “School of the Modern Play”. The story about the search for happiness is being rehearsed by director Maria Fedosova, whom theatergoers know from the play “Running” on Taganka. The new production is based on the play of the same name by Mikhail Barshchevsky and Ekaterina Kretova.

The main character of the performance is a professional journalist who came to conquer the capital. She already has a certain social and professional status, holding the position of editor on one of the prestigious rating programs of central television. There are interesting people around. For complete happiness, the girl lacks confidence in the female status: it is impossible to meet a worthy man. Although she has novels, there are also fleeting dates, but none of the partners makes it possible to feel like a woman to the fullest. But on one of the programs, the heroine meets Ivan Ivanovich – a man much older than her, a representative of the power structure, for whom she has feelings that were previously unknown to her.

Ivan Ivanovich himself describes her something like this: “Lalya turned out to be very beautiful. Much more beautiful than you might expect. A rare manner for a beauty – a constant light irony. No, not cynicism and not comedy – there are such female clowns, not my type. No coquetry. And here is something else: unexpected remarks, jokes, an instant reaction to any phrase. They haven’t met for a long time. And have you met at all?

The play has a clear echo of the love triangle in Anna Karenina. It is no coincidence that the name of the heroine’s child is Seryozha.

— In pursuit of happiness, – reflects the director of the production Maria Fedosova— life itself can be missed. The philosopher Lao Tzu once said, “If you are depressed, then you are living in the past. If you are anxious, then you are living in the future. If you are at peace, then you are living in the present.” I fully agree with this. I think that the word “in peace” means “in harmony”.

– It seems to me, – says Valeria Lanskaya— that my attitude to the concept of “female happiness” has changed a lot over the past two years, especially over the past year. Now I think that in second place after the child is love, the relationship of a man and a woman. A woman should feel protected, loved, needed, tender .. This is what our performance is about. In our production, the audience can feel like a part of what is happening, as if they are in a television studio on the set of a show program. They are immerse themselves in the atmosphere behind the scenes of television. It’s interesting, especially when everything happens up close. We want the performance to be bright and dynamic. There will be interesting musical numbers, a live band will work on the stage, spectacular scenery has been created. In general – a real fireworks!
