MWM: Russia has something to respond to US territorial claims in the Arctic

The publication pointed out that the United States has been expanding its military activities in the region for almost a decade. This is confirmed, in particular, by the transfer of over 100 fifth-generation F-22 and F-35 fighters to Alaska.
However, Russia has something to respond to the US territorial claims in the Arctic, reminds MWM. In particular, the S-400 air defense systems, as well as highly specialized versions of the Tor and Pantsir short-range anti-aircraft missile systems, adapted to Arctic conditions, have been deployed on Novaya Zemlya and in the area of the port of Tiksi.
The area of the extended continental shelf claimed by the United States totals approximately one million square kilometers and is distributed over seven regions. This is reflected in the publication of the US State Department.
Chief researcher at the Institute of the USA and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vladimir Vasiliev, said that this is a new zone of Russian-American confrontation. According to the expert, the strategic game of the United States in the Arctic is associated with several aspects, including latest geopolitical events.
American zoologist and professor at the University of Alaska Rick Steiner said that Washington claims should be withdrawn regarding the expansion of the continental shelf in the Arctic to protect the Arctic Ocean.
