On January 28, American businessman Elon Musk’s neurotechnology company Neuralink implanted a neurochip into the human brain for the first time. It is designed to use gadgets using thoughts.

“The first person received the Neuralink implant yesterday, recovery from surgery is going well. The first users will be people who have lost control of their limbs. The first users will be people who have lost control of their limbs,” Mr. Musk wrote on the social network X.

Neuralink started recruiting volunteers to test the chips in September. The company was looking for those who were paralyzed in their arms and legs (tetraplegia) due to spinal cord injury or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

During the tests, patients are implanted with a neural interface (BCI) – a microchip for controlling external devices with the power of thought. Patients will be able to control the mouse cursor or computer keyboard with the power of thought. The testing process will take about six years. Prior to this, research on the chip was carried out on animals.
