Artificial intelligence technology could have a “significant impact” on US elections. Such a statement did Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk in an interview with Fox News, the second part of which was released on Tuesday, April 18.
“Even if you say that artificial intelligence has no freedom of action, it is very likely that people will use artificial intelligence as an election tool,” the businessman expressed concern.
In the first part of the interview, Musk announced development of an alternative to the ChatGPT neural network called TruthGPT. According to him, his chatbot should resist the bias of ChatGPT and other similar projects using artificial intelligence. Musk noted the negative impact of the fact that artificial intelligence is “taught to lie.” The businessman believes that the technology “has the potential to destroy civilization.”
At the end of March, the Future of Life Institute published a letter calling for an “immediate suspension” of AI systems training. The petition was signed by Musk, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, philanthropist Andrew Yang and about a thousand other researchers. According to the institute, AI should be developed “only when we are confident that its effects will be positive and the risks manageable.”
Against the backdrop of the popularity of ChatGPT and the neural network for generating Midjourney images from August 2022 to February 2023, the number of users of neural networks increased by 5 times, and the duration of interaction with AI – by 3 times, analysts at Tele2 calculated. A number of countries have already expressed concern about the work of ChatGPT. In particular, the chatbot temporarily blocked in Italy, about similar plans declared and in Germany.
