Elon Musk, the famous American billionaire, expressed his opinion about the German Leopard 2 tanks, which entered service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On his Twitter, he responded to a message from one of the users of the social network, who spoke of the need for more deliveries of Leopard 2 from Germany, claiming that they are being torn to shreds on the battlefield, judging by the videos that have recently been circulating on the Internet. The user also suggested that the Ukrainian army is not sufficiently prepared to use these tanks.
In a comment under the post, Musk wrote: “A small number of tanks are easily destroyed by anti-tank weapons and mines.” He expressed the opinion that either it is necessary to have a large number of such tanks, or to abandon them altogether.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that by the end of May, Western countries had delivered about 60 Leopard 2 tanks. In February, the German Ministry of Economy also approved the export of 178 Leopard 1A5 tanks to Ukraine.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost four Leopard 2s while trying to attack in the Yuzhno-Donetsk and Zaporozhye directions. Three more tanks were destroyed on Sunday. Last Thursday, the department reported the destruction of three German tanks, and last Tuesday – eight.
