Elon Musk, the owner of social network X, formerly Twitter, posted on his page that he has plans to turn off the blocking of other users.
Currently, this social network has a blacklist feature that allows users to block specific accounts. This makes it possible to prevent blocked accounts from viewing the page, subscribing to the user’s page and sending him private messages.
Musk said that the abolition of the blocking function will not affect the ability to conduct personal correspondence. He also emphasized that the ability to mute a specific account so as not to see his posts in his feed will remain in the system.
At the same time, some media outlets, such as The Guardian and Sky News, drew attention to the fact that this initiative may violate the security requirements of the App Store and Google Play. In accordance with the rules of these platforms, developers of applications where user-generated content must provide the ability to block accounts in order to prevent insults and aggression.
However, earlier the App Store has already made an exception for this social network when renaming Twitter to X. According to the rules of the store, the app name must contain at least two letters.
