Director Tereza Durova offers to look at the phenomenon of Vladimir Mayakovsky from an unusual angle. Not as a singer of the revolution and herald of the Soviet system with a profile carved in marble and granite, but as an incorrigible romantic, a handsome man who knew how to impress women, a dandy who set fashion in everything – clothes, literature, lifestyle.

The personality of Vladimir Mayakovsky is interesting for its versatility. The brilliant poet, who gained worldwide fame, was also incredibly gifted as a painter, actor, screenwriter. If he were our contemporary, he could become an outstanding marketer or PR specialist. Although at one time Vladimir Vladimirovich was pretty successful in writing slogans and creating advertising sketches. Contemporaries noted Mayakovsky’s impeccable taste and sense of style. Ordering his wardrobe from the most fashionable and expensive European tailors, he did not seek to stand out in the crowd. Rather, this manifested his love for good, elegant things. More than anything, Vladimir Mayakovsky appreciated beauty in people and the world around him, it was not for nothing that he was so acutely worried that “… in 1916, beautiful people disappeared from Petrograd …”.

Futuristic passions will be played out in the workshop of a mysterious tailor, who sews a costume-the fate of the greatest poet on a live thread. And all this – to jazz melodies inspired by Mayakovsky’s poetry.

The director of the performance, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Tereza Durova: “I wanted to combine modern rhythms with poetic statements of a hundred years ago. And it turned out that Mayakovsky, in his genius, is an absolutely transtemporal poet. The younger generation is often frightened off by its unusual linguistic constructions, the system of images. But we tried to find the magic key to its forms by placing them in a modern shell.

We will talk about Mayakovsky in the words of Mayakovsky. We will sing his poems to the accompaniment of a live orchestra. We will demonstrate fashionable costumes of the Mayakovsky era. We will “play” with futuristic light scores. We will use the full range of theatrical possibilities of today so that the audience will fall in love with the work of the modern, fashionable, urgently needed poet Vladimir Mayakovsky even more.
