Muscovites will celebrate the New Year in restaurants. As RBC writes, at premium-segment establishments more than half of the tables for December 31 were booked at the beginning of the month. There are no more empty seats left in some restaurants. According to business estimates, demand has increased by at least a third compared to 2022. How did restaurants prepare for the New Year? Vladislav Viktorov will tell you.

Last year was not the best for restaurants. Sensing the mood of Russians, they prepared for a drop in demand and reduced prices for the New Year celebration. However, this time the business hoped for the best. Thus, in the establishments of the Maison Dellos group, prices for New Year’s Eve increased by an average of 10% over the year.

But at White Rabbit, according to an employee, prices remained at the same level as last year: a deposit in a gastronomic bar starts from 30 thousand rubles. per person, and for a place in the main hall you will have to pay from 75 thousand rubles. up to 80 thousand rubles. There really is a trend for this version of the holiday, notes restaurateur Alexander Sysoev:

“I cannot say that the number of corporate events has increased, but we are seeing an increase in the number of table reservations for six to eight people. I assume that these are meetings of either departments, or their heads, or colleagues united by friendship or some kind of hobbies. As for the holiday night from December 31 to January 1, there are not many offers here yet. There are, however, slightly more of them than in 2022.”

Before the New Year, Moscow traditionally becomes a place of attraction for many Russians. Last year, 2 million tourists came to the capital for the holidays. So December is an excellent period for revenue growth, noted the founder of the restaurant from Berlin and the coffee and wine bar Kiosk 1936, Maria Kosenkova: “This is a good opportunity to boost guest traffic and sales of sparkling wine and caviar sandwiches.

Preparing for the New Year is a very pleasant part of our work. We have also prepared a special menu and special positions of sparkling wines and petnuts.

The growth in demand begins around mid-December, when there is already a desire to relax and create a holiday for yourself. And, of course, it is increasing until December 31st. We also expect a very good flow of people during the January holidays, because restaurants are a separate emotional story and an opportunity to meet with family and friends.”

This year the business was pleased with the number of corporate events. According to Kommersant FM’s interlocutors, the demand for New Year’s parties among colleagues has increased. However, over the year, the cost of such holidays has increased by 20%, analysts estimate.

Throughout the month, establishments try to attract guests with their New Year’s menu. What variations of Olivier are being served at the Krivokolenny 9s3 cafe this year, owner Oksana Fedorenko shared with Kommersant FM:

“We launched a New Year’s special offer on December 1, printed the menu on beautiful New Year’s cards that we prepared ourselves. It contains Olivier, which we prepare with tongue, and there is an option with black caviar. This special menu includes, for example, a tangerine shot with fir cones. There are about eight items of food and six drinks in total.”

New Year’s holidays are traditionally called the low season by restaurateurs. However, experienced businessmen do not despair and rely on so-called hangover promotions: from January 1, each guest is offered a glass of sparkling wine or soup with rich broth as a gift.
