A new record was set at the 50th anniversary Murmansk Ski Marathon. In the “golden” fifty-kilometer freestyle race, the number of participants who reached the finish line was 1,338 people, the regional government reported.

This is an absolute record in the history of the marathon. Only five times did the number of finishers exceed 1,000 people.

“For example, in 1988, 1,003 athletes crossed the coveted finish line, in 2004 – 1,164,” shared the regional Ministry of Sports.

In total, about 2,900 athletes competed in the Valley of Comfort. Among them are famous Olympic winners and skiing legends.

Athletes not only from Russia, but also from seven countries around the world took part in large-scale competitions. Previously “MK in Murmansk” wroteHow did the ski marathon go?
