Suspected in the murder of Russian journalist and political scientist Darya Dugina, Natalya Vovk, using a fake Kazakh passport in the name of Yulia Zaiko, rented a garage in Moscow, reported RIA Novosti, citing sources.
“Before the murder, Natalia Vovk rented a garage located not far from the house where Dugina lived. Vovk presented a fake Kazakh passport in the name of Yulia Zaiko to the owner of the garage, ”the agency quoted the interlocutor as saying.
Journalist Daria Dugin, daughter of a public figure and ideologist of “Eurasianism” Alexander Dugin, died on the evening of August 20. Her father’s SUV Toyota The Land Cruiser Prado, in which the journalist was returning from the Tradition festival, exploded and caught fire at full speed around 21:00 near the village of Bolshiye Vyazemy, Odintsovo District.
Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences to the family of the deceased, calling the crime committed vile and cruel. Later, he signed a decree awarding Dugina the Order of Courage posthumously.
On August 22, the Russian FSB announced that the murder had been solved, saying that the Ukrainian special services were behind it. In particular, the FSB clarifies, a citizen of Ukraine Vovk Natalya Pavlovna, born in 1979, was involved in the murder. After the murder, Vovk left with her daughter through the Pskov region to Estonia.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed that “there can be no mercy” for those responsible for the death of Dugina. He expressed hope that the FSB would quickly complete the investigation of the crime.
The Ukrainian authorities deny their involvement in the journalist’s murder. Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Kyiv is not responsible for the death of Dugina.
