Murashko: mortality from diseases of the circulatory system has decreased by 10% since 2019

The head of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Mikhail Murashko, said that since 2019, mortality from circulatory diseases has decreased by 10%, from cancer – by 10%. Also, according to him, according to the results of this year, life expectancy in Russia should increase by 1.8 years.
“Today we have reached a sustainable trajectory of reducing mortality. In fact, in a short period, these indicators have reached even lower values compared to the pre-pandemic year of 2019. Mortality due to diseases of the circulatory system decreased by almost 10%, by 4.5% – from oncological diseases,” said Mikhail Murashko at the opening of the international scientific and practical forum “Russian Health Week – 2022” (quoted from TASS).
In October, the Ministry of Health said that life expectancy in Russia had decreased by 3.3 years over the 2 years of the coronavirus pandemic. In November, Mikhail Murashko said that by the end of 2022, Russia should return to pre-pandemic life expectancy. Before the pandemic, in 2019, this figure was a record 73.4 years. According to the national development goals, by 2030 the indicator should be at the level of 78 years.
