In Russia, now more than 4 million citizens with malignant neoplasms are under dispensary observation, said the head of the Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko. According to him, over the past three years, mortality from cancer in the country has decreased by more than 5%.
“If you look before the start (implementation of the federal project on the fight against cancer.— “b”) and now it is 7%, the last 3 years is more than 5% decline. Although the fight to reduce the death rate of cancer patients is the most difficult task,” he said at a meeting of the State Duma committee on health protection (quoted by RIA Novosti).
In April 2022, the All-Russian Union of Insurers (VSS) declared on improving the quality of medical care for cancer patients in Russia. In particular, if in 2019 in every fourth case of chemotherapy treatment certain violations were detected, then, according to the ARIA, by 2022 the frequency of such violations has approximately halved in key indicators. In October, the Patients’ Association “Hello” informed about the “colossal shortage” of oncology specialists.
