Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko said that more than 20% of Russians have an excellent level of medical literacy. This is evidenced by a study by the Central Research Institute of Organization and Informatization of Health and the National Medical Research Center for Therapy and Preventive Medicine among 2.6 thousand Russians.
According to Murashko, 24.4% of the population of the Russian Federation have an insufficient level of medical literacy, 15.9% – problematic, 39.3% – sufficient, 20.4% – excellent.
Meanwhile, the overall level of medical literacy was 67.2 points out of 100.
The minister also noted that the ability of Russians to navigate the Russian health care system was reduced. In this regard, Murashko suggested that doctors “communicate with the patient, explain what needs to be done, how to be.”
