Murashko: by the end of the year, the plan for increasing life expectancy in Russia will be overfulfilled

The head of the Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, said that Russia will exceed the plan for increasing life expectancy by the end of 2022. According to him, this indicator in the country has returned to pre-pandemic values.

“We are down below 2019 in terms of mortality. And those plans that were in terms of life expectancy will definitely be overfulfilled by the end of the year, ”said Mikhail Murashko at a meeting of the Communist Party faction in the State Duma (quote from Interfax).

October at the Ministry of Health declaredthat life expectancy in Russia has decreased by 3.3 years over the 2 years of the coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, the department explained that in the second half of 2022, mortality rates returned to the pre-pandemic level of 2019.

In 2019, the Ministry of Health reported that life expectancy in Russia reached a record high of 73.4 years. By the end of 2021, against the backdrop of deaths from coronavirus, life expectancy in Russia had dropped to 70.1 years. According to the national development goals by 2030, the indicator should be 78 years.
