Citizens’ spending on education, treatment and purchase of medicines will decrease
The speaker and leaders of the factions of the lower house of the federal parliament proposed to increase social tax deductions for citizens’ expenses for education, treatment, and the purchase of medicines. The bill, which provides for amendments to the Tax Code of the Russian Federation, was submitted for consideration by the State Duma.
As it became known to MK, tax deductions are aimed, in particular, at supporting families with children, namely at reducing their spending on education and development of their descendants. We are talking about the expenses of parents for the education of their own children under the age of 24, as well as the expenses of taxpayers-guardians for full-time education of their wards under the age of 18. Today, such families can count on a tax deduction for personal income tax in the amount of 50 thousand rubles. If the law is adopted, the tax amount can be reduced by 110 thousand rubles.
In addition, the bill provides for an increase in tax deductions for the cost of their own education, treatment (as well as the treatment of family members) and the purchase of medicines. Parliamentarians propose to increase the maximum amount of the deduction from 120 thousand rubles. (this amount was established in 2008) up to 150 thousand rubles.
