Mozilla Foundation announced about the beginning of the development of a new “trustworthy” open source artificial intelligence. The company has invested $30 million in the development of Mozilla.ai, at the initial stage it will include 25 people, including scientists, engineers and product managers.
According to developers, AIs like ChatGPT and Stable Diffusion that have appeared in recent months can be used for malicious purposes, including writing trojans and fakes, as well as creating phishing sites, obscene and cruel pictures.
According to Mozilla, there is now a need for secure AI that tech companies can use as a toolkit like Apache or Lunix. In the future, the company hopes for additional investments from scientific and commercial organizations. Previously Mozilla introduced built-in phone and email masking in your browser.
