Mozilla has announced that the 115th version of the Firefox browser will be latest, which will support Windows 7, 8, and 8.1, as well as macOS 10.12, macOS 10.13, and macOS 10.14. Users will receive security updates until September 2024, after which Mozilla will no longer support legacy operating systems.
Firefox 115 is due out in July 2023, after which users will be able to update the browser as part of the Extended Support Release and Long-term Support programs. The developers point out as reasons termination support for older Microsoft Windows operating systems where the company has stopped issuing security updates. Other popular browsers Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge have already ended support for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1.
