Most Russians plan to live no worse or even better than others

Russians set themselves ambitious financial goals, showed survey VTsIOM. For the first time in more than a quarter of a century of observation, every fourth respondent (25%) wants to live better than the majority of families in their city. Although the majority (41%) still focus on the average level, setting themselves the goal of living no worse than other families in their city. 12% want to live like in Europe and the USA or even better. Every tenth respondent is focused on survival. Compared to 1998, the proportion of survivors has more than halved (it was 27%).

The survey also revealed that, according to the assessment of the immediate financial prospects, Russians can be divided into three conditional groups. The largest group traditionally includes those who do not expect changes (43%). There are approximately equal numbers of optimists (expecting income growth) and pessimists (expecting a decrease) – 28% and 24%. At the same time, the share of optimists is at a record high. Respondents also named the minimum amount that can be considered savings: on average it is 499,218 rubles.
