Most Russians believe that victims of telephone fraud should have their money returned

Two-thirds of Russians (67%) have encountered calls from scammers over the past six months to a year, every sixth (17%) received fake SMS, showed survey VTsIOM. At the same time, only 7% of respondents suffered monetary damage, significant or not. Most Russians are sure that money transferred to scammers should be returned. Most often, they state that this is the responsibility of law enforcement agencies, to whom the victim should contact, or the banks where he kept the money. At the same time, every eighth person places responsibility on the victim of telephone fraud and is against compensation for damage (13%).

As the survey showed, the majority of respondents are skeptical about their chances of being deceived by telephone scammers. 46% consider such a development of events unlikely, another 27% – impossible.
