Most Russians allow their children to play video games – Kommersant

73% of Russians allow children to play video games, and 23% do not restrict children in this activity in any way, 38% allow them to play after school and compulsory classes, and 12% only during the holidays. A third of parents play with their children, but most allow their children to play independently. More than half consider games useful for their children and do not mind if they connect their lives with the gaming industry in the future, for example, become game designers or cybersportsmen.

Parents believe that games help develop speed of reaction and decision-making (33%), strategic thinking (31%), perseverance and desire to win (22%), mastering new technologies (21%), socialization, outburst of emotions (16% each). ), they are also useful in studying (8%). Games help develop children’s imagination, and also contribute to the knowledge of other mentalities and cultures, times and realities.

57% of respondents have schoolchildren, and about 32% have preschool children. Among leisure activities, more than half of parents often go for walks with their children, 39% watch cartoons, films and TV series, and 33% play video games with their children. In addition, parents with children often visit shopping and entertainment centers, play physical games and board games, and read to them.
