Most children evicted from hotel in Turkey returned to Russia – Kommersant

The Russian Embassy in Turkey reported that most of the Russian children evicted from the Turkish hotel have already returned to their homeland. The children were evicted, according to their parents, due to non-payment of accommodation by the Russian tour operator Hummingbird.

“On August 5, the main group of children managed to take various flights to Russia. An employee of the Consulate General at the airport, when checking in for a flight, provided support to minors who were forced to travel unaccompanied by adults, ”the department noted (quote from “Intefax”). Parents of children reportedthat they had to pay for their return tickets at their own expense.

In total, according to diplomats, 70 children and their counselors were evicted from a hotel in Turkey. It is specified that as of August 6, 20 children and 4 accompanying adults remain in Turkey.

On August 4, it became known that the vacationers of the children’s and teenage camp “Hummingbird” were forced to leave Omorfi Garden Resort, on the basis of which their vacation was organized. The children were moved to the Rios Latte Beach Hotel. Parents who signed contracts with a private person and did not receive documents in their hands say that the reason for the eviction is the lack of payment for accommodation. The tour operator refers to overbooking.

Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova said that she had asked the Investigative Committee of Russia to conduct an investigation into the incident and to figure outwhether there is a violation of the law in the actions of the tour operator or hotel employees.
