Moskalkova will appeal to the head of the ICR on the fact of torture of the Russian military in Ukraine

Ombudsman in Russia Tatyana Moskalkova appealed to international human rights organizations, as well as the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, with a request to demand that Ukraine stop torturing Russian prisoners of war. She stated that she was preparing an appeal to the head of the TFR, Alexander Bastrykin, on this occasion.

In his Telegram channel Ms. Moskalkova said that she had received videotapes from relatives of Russian soldiers who had been taken prisoner, humiliating them. According to her, they received threats from unknown accounts that if they did not pay the ransom, the prisoners would be killed.

“I call on the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, the UN Committee against Torture, the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the International Committee of the Red Cross to immediately demand from the Ukrainian side compliance with the 1949 Geneva Convention prohibiting torture, violence and actions degrading the dignity of a person,” wrote the Russian Ombudsman.

This week Tatyana Moskalkova spent three rounds of negotiations with the Ombudsman of Ukraine Dmitry Lubinets in Ankara. The parties managed to agree on concrete results in the search for the missing and the return of children to their families. The Ukrainian ombudsman said that the parties exchanged lists and information.
