Moskalkova proposed expanding the list of grounds for dismissal from the army

The Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia, Tatyana Moskalkova, proposed making the birth of a fourth child or a serious illness of the wife the basis for dismissal from military service. She said that similar proposals were received by the Ombudsman’s Office from participants in the military operation in Ukraine.

“I think it’s right if our conference develops such a proposal to the president and the authorities to amend the law,” said Ms. Moskalkova at the interregional conference “Modern approaches to comprehensive social support and rehabilitation assistance for SVO participants and their families, aimed at protecting rights and improving the quality of life” (quote from “RIA News”).

The Ombudsman said that she also receives proposals related to the provision of leaves to those mobilized.

Currently, the list of grounds for dismissal from military service includes, in particular, reaching the age limit, expiration of a contract, deterioration of health, loss of confidence, and a court decision to imprison a serviceman.

For family reasons, a military man can be discharged early if, in particular, he needs to provide constant care for his father, mother, wife, husband, brother, sister, grandfather, grandmother or adoptive parent due to their health status, as well as due to necessity to take care of a minor child in the absence of his mother (father).
