Dmitry Peskov commented on Nikol Pashinyan’s statement regarding the possible arrest of Vladimir Putin in Armenia under an ICC warrant. This question was asked to the Armenian Prime Minister by The Telegraph journalists in the context of Armenia’s accession to the Rome Statute. “Let me tell you a secret. After 2018, large-scale democratic reforms took place in Armenia. And I don’t decide who to arrest and who not,” Pashinyan said, avoiding a direct answer.

Peskov called Armenia’s accession to the Rome Statute a “new reality” that cannot but have a negative impact on bilateral relations between the Russian Federation and Armenia.

“It is very important here to receive certain assurances from our Armenian partners,” he said, answering the question whether Vladimir Putin will be able to come to Armenia under the new conditions.

The Kremlin speaker added that this issue should be discussed within the framework of a bilateral dialogue. “That’s exactly what we are set on,” Peskov said.
