The animal was in danger of having a limb amputated
With the help of a unique operation, Moscow veterinarians saved the paw of a black kitten. The pet underwent the so-called Italian plastic surgery – to restore the skin, a paw was temporarily sewn to the stomach.
As MK found out, some time ago a kitten named Barsik was brought to the Kalinin veterinary clinic with a serious problem. The pet was facing amputation of a limb: on part of the hind leg the skin was completely absent, the tissues were inflamed and even showed signs of necrosis. However, sensitivity in the paw remained, and the veterinarian gave the furry patient a chance for salvation.
Barsik needed a complex operation – “Italian plastic surgery”. With this method of plastic surgery, the injured area is sutured under a flap of skin from another part of the body. Experts sewed the cat’s paw to his stomach and began to observe how the recovery took place. The efforts of the veterinarians were crowned with success – over time, the wound on the limb healed and the skin took root. After this, the baby underwent a second operation: the paw was disconnected from the stomach, and it took its natural position. The treatment took several months and was a complete success. Barsik’s owners believe that their pet has become the owner of a magical Italian boot. Now the cat can fully use all four paws. There were no traces of the injury left – they were hidden by the growing fur.
