Moscow threatened US journalists with “discomfort” after the refusal of visas to Russians

American journalists will feel discomfort and inconvenience in connection with the decision of the United States not to issue visas to Russian media workers who were supposed to work at UN events in New York, declared Russian diplomatic source for RIA Novosti.

According to him, after the US decision, it will not be surprising for Washington if the country sees a similar attitude towards its own journalists.

“And now it is obvious that the care that they show to the journalist Gershkovich, who was caught red-handed, is an imaginary concern. He is not interesting to them either as a journalist, otherwise they would not treat Russian journalists, nor as a US citizen. And all this is just words, hypocrisy and lies. There is (should be) no doubt that American journalists will experience all the discomfort and inconvenience, and a similar attitude,” the diplomatic source said.

In April, Russia begins its chairmanship of the UN Security Council. In particular, on April 25, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will chair an open ministerial-level debate in the UN Security Council on resolving the situation in the Middle East, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said. Today she said that the Russian journalists who arrived at the airport still did not receive visas.

Lavrov called the US behavior ugly and accused Washington is cowardly. The minister stressed that Moscow “will not forget, will not forgive” the failure to issue US visas to Russian media workers.
