Moscow schoolchildren win two gold medals at the International Science Olympiad

The results of the participation of the Russian team in the 19th International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO 2022), which was held in Bogota (Colombia), have become known. Muscovites Maxim Chaika, a student of the Sparrow Hills school, and Mikhail Petrov, a student of the Bauman Engineering School No. 1574, won gold medals.
Three members of the Russian team also got gold: Gordey Golubtsov, a student of the P.L. Kapitsa Physical-Technical Lyceum (Moscow Region), Ekaterina Dorofeeva, a student of the Republican Lyceum for Gifted Children (Republic of Mordovia), and Albert Semyonov, a student of a boarding school No. 2 (Kazan). The silver medal was won by Andrey Konstantinov, a student of the Physics and Mathematics Lyceum No. 5 near Moscow.
The competition included three rounds: test, theoretical and experimental, and in each round the students had to solve tasks in three subjects: physics, chemistry and biology. As a result of the competition, the Russian team won a quarter of all the gold medals played, and also took second place in the team competition for solving an experimental problem.
As Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov noted, Russian schoolchildren traditionally show excellent results at international competitions in the exact and natural sciences.
“This is the result of the well-coordinated work of both the guys themselves and their teachers, as well as coaches,” the minister said. — I am sure that the successes demonstrated by our Olympiad participants will be an excellent start for their future achievements in the scientific field.

The 19th International Junior Science Olympiad IJSO 2022 was held in Bogotá in full-time format. Winners, prize-winners and their mentors, as well as team leaders who successfully perform at international Olympiads in general education subjects, are awarded cash prizes ranging from 400,000 to 1 million rubles. Medal holders also have the right to enter any Russian university without exams in the relevant field.
