Moscow schoolchildren will take part in the Young Polar Explorer project

A new educational local history project “Young Polar Explorer” has started in the capital, in which more than two thousand schoolchildren of grades 5-9 will take part. The winner of the project will be able to travel on an icebreaker in the summer of 2023.
Aleksey Shaposhnikov, chairman of the Moscow City Duma, was the author of the project to introduce children and teenagers to the beauty of the Arctic last year. The project was supported by the Department of Education and Science of the city of Moscow, the Russian Geographical Society, and the Faculty of Geography of Moscow State University. M. V. Lomonosov.
“We saw the genuine interest of Moscow schoolchildren in our project, noted the desire for scientific, research work, a creative, original approach to completing assignments,” said Alexey Shaposhnikov.
Within the framework of the project, thematic lectures, seminars, quests and quizzes will be held, and the guys will also perform independent tasks. The final event of the project will be the Polar (Arctic) Dictation. The winners will be awarded valuable prizes and will also be able to go on tours of Russian cities. The main reward will be the opportunity to go on an icebreaker trip in August 2023 as part of the Knowledge Icebreaker project.
