Moscow public transport will be free on New Year’s Eve

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reportedthat all city public transport will be free throughout New Year’s Eve – from 20:00 on December 31 to 06:00 on January 1. The decision on free travel on public transport on New Year’s Eve is made annually by the capital’s authorities.
“Citizens and guests of the capital will be delivered to the place of celebration or home by metro trains, MCC, 158 of the most popular and night routes of ground transport. We will extend the work of the MCD until three o’clock in the morning,” said Mr. Sobyanin. He clarified that President Vladimir Putin’s New Year’s greetings will be broadcast at all Moscow metro stations.
On Christmas night from January 6 to 7, the metro and MCC will operate until 02:00, the MCD – until 03:00, route 151 buses, electric buses and trams – until 03:30. Also, 16 regular night ground transport routes will operate as usual.
In addition, Sergei Sobyanin announced that for the entire period of the New Year holidays, parking in Moscow will be free (with the exception of parking lots with a barrier).
