Engineers at the Moscow research and production enterprise Poliplastik have developed more than 10 materials that are widely used in the automotive and various other industries. Head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy Vladislav Ovchinsky said that some of these materials have no analogues in the country.
Thermoplastic elastomers have the properties of rubber at normal temperatures and soften like thermoplastic polymers at elevated temperatures. These properties allow materials to combine elasticity and plasticity. Request for
The materials are used in, among other things, automobile dashboards, airbag guides and two-piece power tool handles, Ovchinsky said. More than 260 enterprises are engaged in the production of chemical products in Moscow, he recalled.
Market demands for the development and implementation of Russian materials based on TPE have increased manifold, said Alexander Pavlov, head of the Poliplastik enterprise. “Today we have already concluded a contract for the supply of a specialized line that will allow us to produce all types of materials based on thermoplastic elastomers that are in demand by Russian industry,” said the head of the company.
