Mexico has long since become one of the most important suppliers of players to the European football market. But here’s what is surprising: the Russian championship, in which legionnaires from more than a hundred countries, including quite exotic ones, have managed to perform, has so far ignored the Mexicans for some reason. Luis Chavez, who has played for the Pachuca club since 2019, thus fell to be a pioneer in it.

The second curious moment is connected with the biography of the football player. At the moment, Transfermarkt values ​​him at €8m, which means, if not as a top player, then at least close to the top level. But there is a nuance. To this attractive mark, the resource has raised the assessment of Luis Chavez literally over the past few months. And despite the fact that he is already 27 years old.

Chavez was, indeed, for a long time a completely unknown figure in Europe, no matter how appreciated he was in Mexican clubs – Tijuana and then Pachuca. But everything changed last season.

In the spring of 2022, at a mature age, the midfielder made his debut in the Mexican national team, and then coach Gerardo Martino included him in the application for the World Cup in Qatar. But in this championship, the Mexicans did not play very well. They were eliminated in the group stage, missing the eventual tournament winners Argentines and Poles in the playoffs. However, Luis Chavez himself earned good reviews – thanks to the quality performance of the duties of a defensive midfielder, as well as a spectacular goal from a free kick against the Saudi Arabia national team.
