Moscow city services prepared for the worst bad weather since the beginning of summer

Thunderstorms and showers are expected in Moscow on June 23, as well as wind intensification in places up to 17 m/s. In some areas of the capital, up to 25 mm of precipitation may fall, which is more than a third of the monthly norm in June, said Vice Mayor Pyotr Biryukov. In this regard, he said, city services are on alert.
“Such a complex of adverse weather conditions is expected for the first time since the beginning of this summer,” Biryukov quotes Mr. Telegram channel complex of municipal economy of Moscow.
“City services have been instructed to alert all the forces intended to eliminate the consequences of bad weather,” the vice-mayor said, listing the measures taken.
- Emergency power sources have been prepared in the capital;
- sanitation systems checked;
- special equipment will be placed in places of possible accumulation of water;
- objects of life support and fuel and energy facilities were taken under special control;
- measures have been taken to protect transport facilities and buildings from wind gusts.
Information about the deterioration of weather conditions will be broadcast on city video screens and on television. There are 1,500 emergency teams on round-the-clock duty. The possibility of showers and thunderstorms will warn people in recreation areas and parks.
