Moscow City Hall will review plans for the construction of the metro after the launch of the BCL

After the launch of the entire Big Circle Line (BKL) of the metro in the first quarter of 2023, the city authorities will most likely adjust the state program for the development of Moscow’s transport, Moscow Vice Mayor Maxim Liksutov said in an interview with Kommersant. He explained that the BCL will have “a major positive impact on the entire transport system of the city.”
“There is a huge carrying capacity, which can increase, among other things, by reducing the intervals of train traffic,” said Mr. Liksutov. “The LCL will significantly change the whole landscape of further decisions on the development of all types of transport in Moscow and the Moscow region.” The sequence of construction and launch of previously planned lines will probably also be specified.
“The Mayor of Moscow instructed us to prepare an updated program in the first half of next year, part of which is a strategy for the development of suburban rail transportation in the Central transport hub with Russian Railways for 2025-2030, and, of course, the city’s metro development program should also be tied to it,” – said Mr. Liksutov.
