There is no possibility of spreading avian influenza through food in Moscow. This was announced on Thursday, May 18, in the press service of the Moscow Veterinary Committee.
Experts explained that the disease was found in birds in the wild. Accordingly, there is no need to fear the spread of bird flu through poultry products.
May 18 Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin declared a quarantine in several districts of the capital due to bird flu. A number of actions are prohibited in the epizootic focus, in particular, the treatment of sick birds, visiting the outbreak zone, the import and export of birds, eggs, etc. Such measures were taken in connection with the detection of a case of wild birds with highly pathogenic avian influenza in the Brateevo metropolitan area.
According to the director of the Research Institute of Veterinary Virology and Microbiology of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences Denis Kolbasov, there is nothing to fear yet: we are talking about the formal requirements of the law. When an infection is detected, specialists are required to introduce security measures, what they did in Moscow.
