Deputy Mayor of Moscow for urban planning policy and construction Andrey Bochkarev spoke about the preparation of proposals for the reconstruction of the Moscow Central Circle (MCC). In particular, he said, the issue of building additional passenger terminals and updating railway stations and platforms is being considered.
“The demand and popularity of the Moscow Central Circle as a transport system has exceeded expectations. The analysis of the situation and prospects for passenger traffic growth will continue throughout this year. As a result, we will prepare proposals for the reconstruction of the MCC,” said Mr. Bochkarev (quote from “Interfax”).
The deputy mayor of the capital clarified that the reconstruction may concern both the improvement of rolling stock and the reduction of train intervals, as well as the construction of additional passenger terminals, renovation of railway stations and platforms. The issue of building additional access roads, roads and interchanges near MCC stations is also being considered.
The Moscow Central Circle was launched in 2016. The total length of the route is 54 km. There are a total of 31 stops on the MCC. According to the capital’s department of transport, the MCC is used by more than 500 thousand people per day.
