A meeting of the Presidium of the Council of Legislators of the Russian Federation was held in Moscow, at which Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov spoke. He stated that from now on the school history course is supposed to place more emphasis on topics related to the history of Russia.
Now work is underway on new history textbooks, which will more closely combine the course of general history and the course on the history of Russia. In particular, the educational module “Introduction to the Recent History of Russia”, prepared for the 9th grade, will include important milestones in the history of the country: these are the events of the 20th and 21st centuries, including the Great Patriotic War, the admission of new regions to Russia. In addition, a separate course “Russia – my history” will be introduced for high school students. Federal state standards will also be updated, where clearer guidelines will appear in terms of spiritual, patriotic education, and personal development of children.
