More than half of the participants in the military operation in Ukraine who were injured had amputations. Of these, 20% had their upper limbs amputated, and 80% had their lower limbs, said Deputy Head of the Ministry of Labor Alexey Vovchenko.

“Recognized as a disabled person with amputation of a limb – this is 54% of all examinations… this is a lot; among civilian disabled people we do not have such a percentage with amputation,” said Deputy Minister Vovchenko in the Federation Council at a round table dedicated to the rehabilitation of participants in the military operation (quote according to RIA Novosti).

As Mr. Vovchenko clarified, for disabled people with amputations, the period of medical and social examination is three working days, for others – up to 10 days. The deputy minister added that 84% of SVO participants who have undergone a medical and social examination receive recommendations on technical means of rehabilitation; on average, they are prescribed three prosthetic products.

Market participants expectedthat this year Russia will face an increase in the number of people in need of technical means of rehabilitation against the backdrop of a military operation. In February in the State Duma passed inter-factional meeting on issues of medical-psychological, social and professional rehabilitation of participants in the military operation. In April, Vladimir Putin signed decree on the creation of the state fund “Defenders of the Fatherland” to support participants of the Northern Military District. From June 1 in the Russian Federation using an electronic certificate can be purchased complex prostheses.
