More than a thousand people attended the match between the Sakhalin Sharks and the Sakhalin Region team

On Saturday, February 25, the Sakhalin Sharks and the national team of the Sakhalin Region met on the ice of the Arena City complex. The match was attended by 1,300 people, the press service of the island hockey club said.

This game was the final point of the performance of the island youth team in the 2022/2023 season on Sakhalin. The atmosphere of the holiday in the arena was from the moment the doors opened – the “Sharks” met the fans with the distribution of ice cream, beautiful postcards, as well as an autograph session and photographing.

Fans brought dozens of bright posters to the arena in support of their favorite team and gradually filled the stands. Attendance of the game again reached the level of 110% of the capacity of the ice complex.

The game was attended by the Governor of the Sakhalin Region Valery Limarenko and the Minister of Sports of the region Artem Podshivalov. The symbolic face-off in the game was made by the head of Shakhtyorsk DPR Alexander Shatov.

The match began with equal 2:2 in the starting game segment. Representatives of the island team were the first to open the score, to which the Sharks responded with pucks performed by the best sniper of the OLIMPBET Championship of the JHL Alexander Morozov and another League graduate, Ramil Abitov. But soon the parity on the scoreboard was restored.

In the final period, the scoreboard showed 6:2 in favor of the Sakhalin Sharks. The leader of the Sakhalin Oblast national team, two-time winner of the Kharlamov Cup, Alexander Ponomarev, even arranged an impromptu “fight” with the captain of the Sharks, Gleb Bondarenko. The forwards went to the center circle, threw off their leggings and played the victory in the game of rock-paper-scissors.

In the last minute of the period, with the score 6:5, the team released all the field players on the ice, and even goalkeeper Nikita Radchenko went on the attack. In the new for hockey format “20 x 5”, the score became equal, and in the shootout the winning teams could not be identified. The result of the game is 6:6.
