More than 800 graduate students were expelled from the university at once after the “mistake of the methodologist”

The true reason for expulsion may be completely different

The scandalous expulsion of more than 800 graduate students from the Moscow Institute of Finance and Law (MFYuA) “for non-payment” caused rumors. In an attempt to figure it out, almost a hundred expelled people came to talk to the rector, but he did not come out to them. The representative of the academy only stated: “We know your problem, expelled for late payment.” “From the inside” believe that in fact the rector’s office played it safe – many of the expelled correspondence students did not live in Russia and were not going to write a dissertation.

So, according to some data, 820, and according to others, 890 graduate students were expelled at the same time, by one order. All of them, as one, swear that the methodologist of the university sent them internal messages and verbally also said that payment for the next semester could be paid before April 1.

“8 people can be wrong, 18 people can be wrong. 800 people as one cannot make a mistake, ”the expelled tried to prove their case within the walls of the academy. In vain. The message of the methodologist turned out to be a stupid joke, everyone was expelled for non-payment before February 1. Like, there is such a clause in the contract, what would you like … It is reported that the methodologist who was at fault was fired, the topic is closed.

The press service of the MFUA did not get in touch with MK. Earlier, the university made an official statement that the expulsion of graduate students was due to financial debts. “The university makes high demands on students and fights for the quality of education and compliance with the terms of the contract,” the university says. And, they say, graduate students “for academic failure, absenteeism, non-compliance with the curriculum and financial debts” are expelled annually, like students.

Interestingly, in another case, the MFLA reported that each such deduction is considered by the academic council. How long did the meetings go in February in order to expel more than 800 people at once, and even from different faculties: law, IT and finance?

– Yes, we are discussing all this, of course, – says Maria, a master’s student at MFLA. – In principle, dropouts are everywhere, but usually they are dozens, not hundreds of people. In total, 2,500 people study here for the master’s program somewhere. And these expelled almost all correspondence students. And they acted in the second stream (that is, after the announcement of partial mobilization. – Auth.). Many people do not live and work here, they only come to the session. Yes, by and large, none of them was going to write dissertations and pass the candidate minimum. Studying was needed to cover up, people didn’t really hide it …

The same opinion is shared by one of those expelled “for non-payment”, the programmer Vadim. He believes that the university was “overwhelmed”, fearing either a tendency to “punish those who left”, or, perhaps, the history of one private university, where in October last year they found 800 who wanted to “sag” from mobilization.

– Well, I can say that the ends are cut off, – says Vadim. – I work as a developer for a private company. I live now in Kazakhstan. One of my relatives advised me to go to graduate school. Until now, all the tests and tails in this university were looked through the fingers. Non-payment month after month did not bother anyone before. I entered my native IT.

After MEPhI, this “higher” graduate school is, of course, a sham. You can go to graduate students only after a master’s degree or a specialty, but even a bachelor could easily do it. But I only considered this crust as an opportunity to return home if I ever wanted to. Now hardly. Money, of course, sorry.

Experts believe that such a “disposal of the ballast” in the MFLA is perhaps the first sign. Large-scale inspections at universities in academic circles have been talked about for a long time. In peripheral universities, there is some activity to collect student credentials, on the one hand, and to check the “transparency” of passing sessions by supervisory authorities, on the other. Or maybe they just know something in financial and legal.
