More than 600 healthy lifestyle lovers started the Vedenino night ski race

On February 18, a night ski race took place at the ski-roller center Vedenino on Kosaya Gora. It is held within the framework of the federal project “Sport is the norm of life” of the national project “Demography”.
The start of the competition was given by the Deputy Governor of the Tula region Sergey Egorov. He welcomed the participants on behalf of Governor Alexei Dyumin.
“Our beautiful center, like today’s race, is named after a wonderful person Vyacheslav Petrovich Vedenin. With his victories at the Olympic Games and world championships, he glorified not only the Tula region, but our entire country. Our fellow countryman is an example not only for skiers, but for all athletes. The race is held in our region for the fourth time and has become a good tradition for all lovers of a healthy lifestyle. I am sure that all participants will get a lot of positive emotions,” said Sergey Egorov.
The race participants were greeted by the widow of two-time Olympic champion, four-time world champion, thirteen-time USSR champion Vyacheslav Vedenin Larisa Vedenina.
“Today, each of you will work on yourself – on your move, breathing, desire. May the strongest win!” – she said.
More than 600 athletes and amateurs took part in the competition. Adults covered distances of 5, 10 and 20 km, and children – 600 meters and 2 km. The youngest participant in the race is 2 years old, the most experienced is 78 years old.
For the first time this year, an interactive zone “A Man of Word and Deed”, dedicated to the memory of Vyacheslav Vedenin, is operating at the competition.
