More than 3.5 million Ukrainian citizens crossed the border into the Russian Federation after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine, General of the Army Vladimir Kulishov, First Deputy Director and Head of the Border Service of the FSB of Russia, said in an interview with TASS.

Kulishov noted that in the conditions of a difficult humanitarian situation on the territory of the Russian Federation, the entry and accommodation of this category of persons was organized.

He also pointed out that after the start of the SVO on the border with Ukraine, there has been a significant aggravation of military threats, in particular, provocations and the introduction of saboteurs into the territory of the Russian Federation.

Kulishov recalled that on May 22, an armed intrusion of Ukrainian saboteurs into the territory of the Graivoronsky district of the Belgorod region was suppressed, while the Ukrainian nationalists used, among other things, armored vehicles.

He noted that in such a situation, the operational, combat and technical potentials of the border agencies have been built up. Additional measures have also been taken to provide engineering and technical cover for the state border, and the counterintelligence regime has been strengthened, Kulishov said.
