The Sakhalin IronSakh vol.7 triathlon was held at the Lesnoye Ozero recreation center. 215 triathletes from 37 cities of Russia took part in the competition, the press service of the Ministry of Sports of the Sakhalin Region reported.

Athletes competed for speed and endurance in five disciplines – super sprint (swimming 300 m, cycling 8 km, running 2 km), sprint (750 m, 20 km, 5 km), “Olympic” (1.5 km, 40 km , 10 km), HALF (1930 m, 90 km, 21.1 km) and super sprint (for persons with PAD) (300 m, 8 km, 2 km).

Before the start of the competition, Stanislav Tyurin, Deputy Minister of Sports of the island region, addressed the participants and fans with a welcoming speech.

According to the results of the performance of triathletes in the shortest discipline “Super-sprint”, the places were distributed as follows.

Among men in the age category of 18-49 years, Victor Usov from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk won the first place.

“The distance was very difficult, but at the same time it was very cool to overcome it. This year I am participating in the super sprint because I set a goal to reach the time in 30 minutes. I can’t say yet whether it worked or not. Three years ago I participated in this discipline and became the third, so today I took revenge, ”said triathlete Viktor Usov.

Maxim Lokeenko (Korsakov) took the second place, Anatoly Zabolotsky (Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk) closed the top three. At the age of 50 years and older, Vladimir Surmin (Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk) was the first, Viktor Novikov (Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk) was the second, Rafis Azmukhametov (Vladivostok) was third.

At the age of 50 years and older, Yana Troshchinskaya (Vladivostok) and Irina Molchanova (Korsakov) took first and second places, respectively.

Among men in the sprint in the age category of 18-49 years, the gold medal went to Ilya Dmitryuk from Ussuriysk.

“I have been competing in triathlon for four years now. During this time, I managed to compete in such competitions as IRONMAN in Shanghai, IRONSTAR semi-iron triathlon in Sochi, IRONMAN in Dubai, IRONSTAR in Kaliningrad. Interestingly, it is very difficult to run everywhere, but on Sakhalin the distances are easier. I think the pleasant climate, clean air and the beauty of your wonderful island have an effect,” said Ilya Dmitryuk, the best triathlon sprinter.

“I wanted to participate in the HALF discipline, but there was no time to prepare for such a serious distance, so I chose the Olympic. I like that every year the level of training of rivals is growing. At the age of 40 years and older, Nina Kazimirova (Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk) showed the best passing time, followed by Elena Burikova and Olga Ovsyannikova (both from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk) in the final protocol.

In the most difficult long discipline of HALF, the athletes overcame the distance, the total duration of which was 113 kilometers 30 meters.

In this discipline, among men in the age range of 18-39 years, gold is in the piggy bank of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Kirill Smirnov.

“You can call me the watchdog of the Sakhalin triathlon, I have been participating since the very first IronSakh, since 2016. I always choose hardcore, long disciplines, because most of all I like to overcome myself and test my abilities,” said triathlon gold medalist Kirill Smirnov.
