More than 1100 residents of Vologda go in for chess

The mayor of Vologda, Sergei Voropanov, spoke about the plans to develop chess more actively in the regional capital. He announced this during his live broadcast.
As Sergei Alexandrovich emphasized, playing chess develops all the necessary skills in people who think strategically. Such young people often become mathematicians, engineers and IT specialists in the future. That is why Vologda is beginning to intensify work on the development of this mind sport.
At the same time, chess is popular among both adults and young Vologda residents. Various competitions are organized especially for all amateurs in the regional capital. In particular, the Chess Championship and the championship of Vologda took place almost the whole of January. And in February, school teams will compete for the title of the best in the framework of the White Ladya tournament, as well as athletes of all ages in the Knight’s Move competition.
Let us add that now over 1.1 thousand people are engaged in chess in the city. This number is planned to be increased in the future.
