American-born Russian MMA fighter Jeff Monson announced that he had no plans to leave the sport in the near future, despite the defeat of Vyacheslav Datsik.
Earlier, Monson lost to Datsik in an MMA fight. The fight took place on Saturday night in Moscow as part of the REN-TV Fight Club tournament. The judges gave the victory to Datsik unanimously after three rounds.
According to Monson, the fight with Datsik will not be the last in his career. “I can fight again,” said the athlete.
According to him, the issue of the next fight in October is being considered, after which he will end his career. “I made a promise to the family,” he said.
Monson, 51, is a two-time ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship winner. In addition, he is a world champion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a former contender for the Heavyweight Championship of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The American with a Russian passport has 60 wins, 27 losses and one draw.
Earlier, Monson said that he did not intend to return to the United States, because he considers himself a Russian person. He also announced plans to open as many free sports schools in Russia as possible.
